Tiếng ViệtLufthansa Group will focus on catering to Korean customers’ growing demand for premium flight services, as more individual travelers here are willing to spend more for advanced services, the group’s CEO Carsten Spohr told reporters during a press conference, Wednesday.
“We are trying to focus on offering premium travel experiences to customers here, as Koreans are willing to spend additional money for premium services,” the head of the German flagship carrier said.
The airline still faces toughening competition with its rivals here, but the CEO displayed confidence of achieving solid growth by targeting those seeking better travel experiences despite higher costs.
“This year, we have so far seen 31 percent more flight(s) than last year and 22 percent more seats (for our flights),” he said. “When you buy skin care products, Korea is the top. If you want to buy a luxury car, Germany comes to mind first. Lufthansa is the company in terms of premium travel experiences.”
Lufthansa operates 17 direct routes every week between Incheon and Frankfurt, Munich and Zurich. The airline also expected travel demand to Korea to rise further, according Lufthansa Group General Manager Korea Leandro Tonidandel who also attended the media event.
“This is due to the popularity of Korea and its capital city of Seoul,” he said. “Korea is no longer an export country. There is more interest from foreigners to visit Korea. The demand is growing, so we are increasing our frequencies in the market.”
According to the group, travel demand to Korea is forecast to rise further for a number of reasons — such as the rising global popularity of Korean pop culture and a number of other areas.
“A key characteristic of the Korean market is that it is changing quickly, and (for the time being) we are looking for premium independent travelers and particularly those who really believe quality has value,” the head of the group’s regional office said.
