Tiếng ViệtSamsung Electronics plans to provide live broadcast support for the 2024 Paris Olympics opening ceremony and sailing events next month using its Galaxy S24 Ultra flagship smartphone, as part of the company’s and the International Olympic Committee’s (IOC) strategy to deliver a new viewing experience to Olympic fans, the company said Tuesday.
Samsung said that it will collaborate with the IOC and Olympic Broadcasting Services (OBS) to use its Galaxy S24 Ultra phones for live broadcasts of the Paris Olympics opening ceremony on July 26 and the sailing events starting from July 28, offering high dynamic range (HDR) video.
The opening ceremony will be held outside the main Olympic stadium on the Seine River, for the first time in Olympic history. Delegations of each nation will participate in a parade on boats for about six kilometers along the river, showcasing various cultural heritage sites and landmarks of the Olympic host city.
Samsung said over 200 Galaxy S24 Ultra smartphones will be used for the opening ceremony.
“The parade will involve around 10,000 delegates and 85 boats. Each national delegation’s boat will be equipped with a Galaxy S24 Ultra to capture live footage of the athletes. More than 200 S24 Ultra devices will be used for the broadcast coverage, and the recorded footage will be livestreamed to viewers worldwide through OBS,” Samsung said.
Following the opening ceremony, the Galaxy devices will also be utilized for coverage of the sailing event starting July 28.
The devices will be installed on the competitors’ yachts, and the recorded footage will be transmitted in real time through base station boats set up at the Marseille Marina, located in the city of Marseille on the Mediterranean Sea, inviting viewers to enjoy an immersive experience as if they were participating in the actual competition.

As a worldwide Olympic and Paralympic partner, Samsung has supported communication technologies for the Games for nearly 40 years to enable athletes, families and fans to connect with each other.
At the 1998 Nagano Winter Olympics in Japan, when access to mobile phones was limited, Samsung introduced the Call Home program, allowing over 2,500 athletes to make free calls to their families back home. So far, Samsung has provided around 125,000 of the latest mobile devices, from the 1998 Nagano Winter Olympics to the 2022 Beijing Olympics.
